When you work with remote staff who are based in a different country, it can be really difficult to find suitable incentives and rewards to thank them for their great work. You cannot just buy a pack of doughnuts for them or give them a Starbucks gift card when they put in some extra hours or come up with a brilliant new idea.


We asked our Philippines-based team members about their favorite treats and rewards and they shared some great ideas with us that will make your team feel really loved and appreciated. Here is our top 5:


1. Give them a paid day off. In the Philippines in particular, people tend to be very family-oriented and work-life balance is very important to them. A paid day off means more time with their family, and will be greatly appreciated.


2. Cover the cost of training. People in the Philippines are exceptionally well educated and have a strong commitment to learning. Offer to pay for a certified online course of their choice (within a given budget) and we bet your staff will love the idea!


3. Order from Lazada. Lazada is the equivalent of Amazon in the Philippines and works pretty much in the same way. Not sure what to buy? Get an electronic gift card and send it to your team member by email! www.lazada.com.ph


4. Send gifts or flowers. Are you looking to treat your staff on a special occasion? There are a number of easy-to-navigate websites where you can order a thoughtful gift or a beautiful bouquet, for example, www.florista.ph or www.speedregalo.com.ph


5. Write a letter. You will be surprised how highly appreciation letters are valued, especially if you make an effort to thank them in detail, use your formal letterhead, and hand-sign the letter. It is a memorable gesture that no money can buy.
